Top 5 Priorities

My platform centers on five priorities that reflect what families across Kentwood, East Grand Rapids, Cascade Township, and beyond are asking for every day: economic fairness, healthcare for all, educational equity, social justice, and environmental protection.

These are the pillars of a Michigan where every person — especially those in underserved and overlooked communities — has the opportunity not just to survive, but to thrive.

Economic Prosperity & Fair Wages for Working Families

Too many families are working harder than ever but still struggling to make ends meet. I’ll fight to build a fair economy that uplifts working families and small businesses across Michigan. My Commitment is to fight for a Michigan where every worker earns a fair wage, every family can afford to live with dignity, and every small business has the tools to thrive.

  • Raise wages to a true living wage and close the tipped wage gap so every worker can support their family with dignity.

  • Lower costs for families through targeted tax relief, affordable childcare, and better access to essential resources.

  • Support small businesses with grants, local investment incentives, and access to capital to help them grow and hire locally.

  • Create clear pathways to homeownership by expanding first-time buyer programs and addressing housing affordability.

  • Strengthen unions and collective bargaining rights to ensure workers have a real voice.

  • End wage theft and ensure fair pay through stronger enforcement and accountability measures.

  • Tie wage increases to the cost of living to prevent families from falling behind.

Universal Healthcare for All

Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege. I’ll fight to ensure every Michigander has access to affordable, high-quality care — including comprehensive mental health services and full inclusion for people with disabilities. My Commitment is to ensure affordable care for every resident, expand mental health access, and protect disability rights so that no family — and no person — is left behind.

  • Champion MiCare and support Carrie Rheingans Medicare for All plan to make healthcare affordable and accessible to every resident.

  • Strengthen and enforce Michigan’s Persons With Disabilities Civil Rights Act (PWDCRA) and the Michigan Handicappers Civil Rights Act (MHCRA) to eliminate discrimination in employment, housing, education, and public services.

  • Ensure fair wages and better working conditions for caregivers, direct support professionals, and workers serving individuals with disabilities.

  • Expand funding for disability support services, accessibility improvements, and inclusive community programs.

  • Prioritize mental health care and integrate services into schools, workplaces, and local communities.

  • Protect and expand paid family and medical leave so no one has to choose between their health and their job.

Strong Public Schools & High Quality Education for all

Education is the foundation of opportunity. As a mother and disability advocate, I know that every child — regardless of race, income, or ability — deserves the support and resources they need to reach their full potential. My Commitment is to create an equitable, inclusive education system that nurtures every child’s potential — in the classroom and beyond.

  • Ensure equitable school funding so every district, from urban to rural, has the resources students deserve.

  • Champion a Michigan education reform to improve special education access, expand early childhood learning opportunities, strengthen trade school pathways, and ensure affordable access to higher education.

  • Invest in mental health support for students, teachers, and school staff through preventative care, on-site counselors, and trauma-informed practices.

  • Increase funding for extracurricular programs, including after-school activities, arts, and sports, to help students build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills.

  • Provide fair wages and support for educators, paraprofessionals, and school staff who play a vital role in shaping the future of our children.

  • Expand access to technology and broadband, ensuring every student can learn and succeed in a modern, connected world.

Clean Energy & Environmental Justice

From Kentwood to East Grand Rapids, every family deserves clean air, safe water, and a sustainable future. Environmental justice means protecting both our people and our planet — no matter your income, neighborhood, or zip code.

  • Shut down Line 5 and invest in renewable, community-owned energy solutions that create good-paying, local jobs.

  • Ensure intentional implementation of the Mi Health Climate Plan and the Grand Rapids Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) — aligning state and local efforts to reduce pollution, promote clean energy, and protect vulnerable communities.

  • Support the Protecting Overburdened Communities Act to prevent new pollution in neighborhoods that already carry the heaviest environmental burdens.

  • Enforce stronger permitting standards and hold corporations accountable for contamination, remediation, and public health impacts.

  • Expand Michigan’s green infrastructure — including clean public transit, energy-efficient schools, and affordable housing retrofits.

  • Protect our Great Lakes and waterways through long-term investment in water quality, lead pipe removal, and stormwater management.

  • Create equitable access to clean energy jobs and workforce training so that underrepresented communities can lead in Michigan’s clean economy.

  • Champion environmental equity by ensuring that low-income, BIPOC, and frontline communities have a voice in shaping climate and energy policy.

Immigrant Rights & Human RIghts

Our community is strongest when every person — regardless of where they were born or their immigration status — feels safe, respected, and able to fully participate in civic life. Human rights and due process must be protected for everyone, because when any group is targeted, the entire community is weakened.

  • Support “Drive SAFE” legislation to restore access to driver’s licenses and state IDs for residents regardless of immigration status, improving public safety, mobility, and economic stability for families, workers, and students.

  • Champion Senate Bills 508–510 (2025–26), which together protect safety, privacy, and family unity for immigrants and non-immigrants alike:

    • SB 508: Prohibits immigration enforcement actions in sensitive locations such as schools, hospitals, courts, and places of worship unless there is a judicial warrant or imminent danger.

    • SB 509: Restricts state and local agencies from sharing personal data for immigration enforcement except when legally required, protecting privacy and community trust.

    • SB 510: Requires law enforcement officers to wear clearly identifiable uniforms when interacting with the public, addressing concerns about unmarked vehicles and concealed identities.

  • Protect due process and civil liberties for all residents, regardless of immigration status.

  • Ensure language access and culturally competent services across state agencies, schools, and healthcare systems.

  • Strengthen enforcement of Michigan’s civil rights protections, including safeguards against discrimination based on race, nationality, religion, disability, gender identity, or immigration status.

  • Partner with local governments and community organizations to ensure state policies reflect the lived realities of immigrant, refugee, and mixed-status families.

Policy Anchor: Senate Bills 508–510 (2025–26) and Drive SAFE–style legislation restoring licenses and IDs for all residents.

My Commitment: As an immigrant, I know firsthand the importance of strong protections for immigrants and their families. I will lead with courage and compassion — defending due process, protecting human rights, and ensuring Michigan remains a place where every person belongs and every family can thrive.

Because human rights don’t stop at borders — and justice must include us all.
